Teshuvah, Day 33

This is Day 3 of the Ten Days of Awe.

God is enthroned on the praises of His people.

Psalm 27: 4 “One thing have I asked of YHWH, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the House of YHWH all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of YHWH and to inquire in His Temple.”

The day is coming when all people will go to Jerusalem to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles and worship the King. Prepare yourselves for His glorious return. We long for that day.

One of my favorite worship songs is “Better is One Day” (lyrics below) which comes from Psalm 84:10 “For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.”

Psalm 19:14 “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O YHWH, my rock and my redeemer.”

Psalm 141:1-3 “A Psalm of David. O YHWH, I call upon You; hasten to me! Give ear to my voice when I call to You! 2 Let my prayer be counted as incense before You, and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice! 3 Set a guard, O YHWH, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips!”

That last line. “Keep watch over the door of my lips.” Isaiah prophesied, “…this people draw near with their mouth and honor Me with their lips, while their hearts are far from Me, and their fear of Me is a commandment taught by men…” We can praise God all day long and still be far from Him. Our praise means nothing if we are not praising Him with all of our heart and living accordingly.

Psalm 145:6-7 “They shall speak of the might of Your awesome deeds, and I will declare Your greatness. 7 They shall pour forth the fame of Your abundant goodness and shall sing aloud of Your righteousness.”

Psalm 34:1 “I will bless YHWH at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

Even in the hard times, praise Him.

This day coordinates with the third day of creation.

Genesis 1:9-13 “And God said, ‘Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.’ And it was so. 10 God called the dry land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it was good. 11 And God said, ‘Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, on the earth.’ And it was so. 12 The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed according to their own kinds, and trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 13 And there was evening and there was morning, the third day.”

“Better Is One Day” by Matt Redman

How lovely is Your dwelling place, Oh Lord Almighty
My soul longs and even faints for You
For here my heart is satisfied, within Your presence
I sing beneath the shadow of Your wings

Better is one day in Your courts
Better is one day in Your house
Better is one day in Your courts
Than thousands elsewhere (x2)

One thing I ask, and I would seek, to see Your beauty,
To find You in the place Your glory dwells (x2)

Chorus (x2)

My heart and flesh cry out,
For You the living God
Your Spirit’s water to my soul
I’ve tasted and I’ve seen,
Come once again to me.
I will draw near to You.
I will draw near to You.

Chorus (x6)
