Teshuvah, Day 24

Day 16 of the 119th Psalm, verses 121-128.

Ayin
“121 I have done what is just and right; do not leave me to my oppressors.
“122 Give Your servant a pledge of good; let not the insolent oppress me.
“123 My eyes long for Your salvation and for the fulfillment of Your righteous promise.
“124 Deal with Your servant according to Your steadfast love, and teach me Your statutes.
“125 I am Your servant; give me understanding, that I may know Your testimonies!
“126 It is time for YHWH to act, for Your Law has been broken.
“127 Therefore I love Your commandments above gold, above fine gold.
“128 Therefore I consider all Your precepts to be right; I hate every false way.”
– Psalm 119:121-128

THE BREAKDOWN

Verse 121: God promises never to leave us or forsake us. Our duty is to do what is just and right.

Verse 122: A prayer for well-being and to be spared from oppressors.

Verse 123: We have the pleasure of knowing the promise of salvation has been fulfilled through Yeshua HaMashiach.

Verse 124: A prayer for mercy and a desire to learn the commandments.

Verse 125: A willing servant praying for understanding of the ways of YHWH.

Verse 126: A prayer for God to come quickly and deal with injustices and punishment for the wicked.

Verse 127: The commandments are more precious that pure gold.

Verse 128: Not only are the commandments precious but right in every way. We should hate every false way.


Lord, lead me to do what is right and to protect me from my adversaries and oppressors. I long for Your return. Teach me Your statutes while I wait, and give me understanding. Deal with those who break Your Law. Draw them to You. Amen.
