Day 6 of the 119th Psalm, verses 41-48.
“Waw
“41 Let Your steadfast love come to me, O YHWH, Your salvation according to Your promise;
“42 then shall I have an answer for him who taunts me, for I trust in Your Word.
“43 And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth, for my hope is in Your rules.
“44 I will keep Your Law continually, forever and ever,
“45 and I shall walk in a wide place, for I have sought Your precepts.
“46 I will also speak of Your testimonies before kings and shall not be put to shame,
“47 for I find my delight in Your commandments, which I love.
“48 I will lift up my hands toward Your commandments, which I love, and I will meditate on Your statutes.”
– Psalm 119:41-48
The Breakdown
Verse 41: The writer testifies to the steadfast love of the Father and His promise of salvation.
Verse 42: The writer will have an apologetic for his enemies because he trusts in God’s Word.
Verse 43: A prayer for God’s truth to remain in the writer’s mouth for he has put his hope there.
Verse 44: A promise that the writer will keep God’s Law always.
Verse 45: Other translations say “I shall walk in liberty.” Seeking God’s precepts will bring us to liberty. This corresponds with James 1:25. “But the one who looks into the perfect Law, the Law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.”
Verse 46: The writer will speak of God’s testimonies before kings and not be put to shame. Yeshua said, “Everyone who acknowledges Me before men, I also will acknowledge before My Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 10:32). We are to proclaim the testimonies of the Messiah. If not, we will be put to shame as the words of the Messiah continue, “whoever denies Me before men, I also will deny before My Father who is in heaven.”
Verse 47: The writer loves and delights in God’s commandments.
Verse 48: He will meditate on God’s statutes because of his love for the commandments.
Lord, give me the boldness to proclaim Your testimonies. Help me to delight in Your Law. Amen.
Shalom.
