Teshuvah, Day 10

Day 2 of the 119th Psalm, verses 9-16.

“9 How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to Your Word.
“10 With my whole heart I seek You; let me not wander from Your commandments!
“11 I have stored up Your Word in my heart, that I might not sin against You.
“12 Blessed are You, O YHWH; teach me Your statutes!
“13 With my lips I declare all the rules of Your mouth.
“14 In the way of Your testimonies I delight as much as in all riches.
“15 I will meditate on Your precepts and fix my eyes on Your ways.
“16 I will delight in Your statutes; I will not forget Your Word.”
– Psalm 119:9-16

The Breakdown

Verse 9: Guarding His Word is the way to purity

Verse 10: Another prayer to keep us in God’s commandments

Verse 11: A common memory verse. Knowing God’s commandments in your heart will lead you not to sin.

Verse 12: A plea for God to teach us His rules.

Verse 13: Confessing God’s commandments audibly can keep us in obedience.

Verse 14: Comparing God’s commandments to all riches. They are far superior.

Verse 15: A prayer to stay committed to God and His ways.

Verse 16: Our delight will cause us to remember His ways.


Lord, keep Your rules and testimonies always before our eyes so we will walk in them. Amen.
