Teshuvah, Day 40

This is Day 10 of the Ten Days of Awe.

It’s Yom Kippur! An appointed time that is yet to be fulfilled.

Psalm 27:14 “Wait for YHWH; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for YHWH!”

The conclusion of Psalm 27 is about waiting for YHWH to rescue you from your adversaries. But as a stand-alone verse, it is perfect for Yom Kippur. The Day of Atonement was when the High Priest went into the Temple to offer the sacrifice to atone for the sins of the whole nation. The nation waited for YHWH to forgive their sins every year. We now know the Messiah as the new High Priest, but we still wait for the Day when Yom Kippur will be fulfilled. Be strong and take courage as we wait for YHWH!

Acts 17:30-31 “The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now He commands all people everywhere to repent, 31 because He has fixed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom He has appointed; and of this He has given assurance to all by raising Him from the dead.”

Matthew 25:31-34, 41, 46 “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. 32 Before Him will be gathered all the nations, and He will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 And He will place the sheep on His right, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.’ 41 Then He will say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.’ 46 And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

God has appointed a future day for the judgment of the world. Yom Kippur is the prophetic shadow of that day to come.

Psalm 145:20-21 “YHWH preserves all who love Him, but all the wicked He will destroy. 21 My mouth will speak the praise of YHWH, and let all flesh bless His holy Name forever and ever.”

Speak the praises of God and bless His Holy Name forever. Love Him and obey Him, for this is the love of God. And His blood will cover you when Yom Kippur is fulfilled on the Day of Judgment.
