Genesis – TP #1.1 – Creation, part 3

The days of creation continued:

Day 6 – Livestock, Creeping things, Beasts of the field, Man and Woman
Day 7 – Rest

Genesis 1:24 “And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds—livestock and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so.”

There are two things to notice from this verse. First, the phrase “according to their kinds”, and secondly, that God divided those kinds into three different categories.

The Days of creation:

Day 1 – Light, Day, and Night
Day 2 – The Firmament to separate the waters, which He called Sky
Day 3 – Dryland and the Seas, Vegetation, Plants, and Trees
Day 4 – Sun, Moon, and Stars
Day 5 – Creatures of the Seas, Birds of the air
Day 6 – Livestock, Creeping things, Beasts of the field, Man and Woman
Day 7 – Rest

John 1:1-3 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was in the beginning with God. 3All things were made through Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made.”

Genesis – TP #1.1 – Creation, part 1

Genesis 1:1 declares, “God created.” We’re here to study the written words of God, so there is no need to spend time proving the existence of God. God is, or as He tells Moses later, He is the I AM. He always was, and Genesis says He created everything in six days. So our first question is, how long did that take?

Did creation happen billions of years ago or as soon as 6000 years ago? It doesn’t matter what your belief, all determinations are interpreted from the same thing, time. Or rather, our perception of time.

Genesis – TP #1 – B’reisheet Summary

Genesis 1:1 through 6:8 is only five chapters and a few verses, but there is so much packed into this first potion. It covers the creation, the fall, Cain and Abel, the genealogy of Adam down to Noah, and the mention of the Nephilim. We’ll go through all of that with the upcoming posts, with just a summary listed here.
